How to play Hideout: rules, scoring and tips
Everything you need to play Hideout, plus tips to get a better score.
How to play
- 🦊 Each day, a scene full of hiding places. Hide where nobody else hides… and guess where almost everyone does.
- 🙈🔎 Two plays, one after the other: pick a hiding place for your fox, then pick the one you think most players chose. Both are final once you confirm.
- 🐶 Tomorrow the seeker dog checks every hiding place from the busiest to the quietest. The later he finds you, the better.
- ⭐ Out of 100. Hiding: up to 50 points (found last = 50, found first = 0, tied places share a position). Guessing: 50 points for the busiest spot, 35 for the second, 20 for the third, 10 for the top five. 80 or more is ⭐⭐⭐, 55 is ⭐⭐.
- 📊 Right after playing you see a provisional heat map. The final results arrive the next day, once the count has closed all around the world.
- 🤖 While the community is small, simulated players fill the count up to 300. The screen always says so ("Includes N simulated players while the community grows") and they disappear once enough real players join.
- 🔒 Only counters are stored: how many players chose each spot. No accounts, no cookies, no personal data, and never your individual choices. Your own play stays on your device, to send it and to show you yesterday's results.
- 📅 One play per day and device. Practice afterwards never counts and never reaches the count.
Three tips from the seeker
What looks like the perfect secret spot attracts the clever ones. If it feels too good to be true, half the world already thought of it.
Think one step ahead of the others, but not two: the sweet spot is the quiet, ordinary place nobody bothers to think about.
To guess where most people hide, think like someone playing for the first time: the biggest, most central, most obvious place.
